Project Members

peters Francesc Peters. ICM, Barcelona (Spain). Researcher, coPI of ANIMA. My Interests include understanding the dynamics of planktonic microbial populations and the different factors that affect such dynamics. In recent years the impacts of atmospheric particle deposition in marine ecosystems has become a main research topic.
sala Montse Sala. ICM, Barcelona (Spain). Researcher, coPI of ANIMA. I am interested in the role of microorganisms in the ocean, with special emphasis on their diversity and activity. This has taken me from polar ecosystems to lakes and from global oceanic scales to microlayers, addressing aspects related from global change (acidification, Arctic ice melting) to bacterial physiology. My main role in ANIMA is focused on the 1) Quantification and identification of atmospheric microbes and 2) evaluation of the impact of aerosols on marine microorganisms

cristina_romera Cristina Romera. University of Vienna (Austria). Postdoctoral Researcher.
Estela Romero. Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris (France). Postdoctoral Researcher. I am an ecologist broadly interested in the effects of multiple stressors on the functioning of ecosystems. Much of my research interests lie at the intersection of environmental processes and human activities, and I am particularly enthusiastic about those projects that try to bridge science and resource management. I have worked in research projects concerning marine and freshwater issues, and my collaboration in ANIMA will be focused on assessing the dynamics and functioning of coastal plankton in response to atmospheric stimuli.

Collaborators

logoARM ARM . Associació per l’Avançament en Recerca Marina. Association interested in the dissemination of scientific results related to the marine environment.
oriol_jorba Oriol Jorba. Researcher. Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Collaboration consists in providing aerosol deposition output data from our models BSC-DREAM8b and NMMB/BSC-Dust for use in the project ANIMA and on using atmospheric deposition observational measurements from ANIMA to further validate and calibrate our models.
ramon_massana Ramon Massana. Researcher. ICM, Barcelona, Spain. Collaboration in the analysis and interpretation of eukaryotic microbial diversity.
logoMCV MCV S.A. MCV is a company funded over 30 years ago aiming at designing and developing instrumentation, equipment and systems related to environmental monitoring, especially in the areas of air quality and meteorology. We are interested in following the progress of ANIMA regarding the data collected with high volume samplers.
noemi perez Noemí Pérez. Postdoctoral Researcher. IDAEA (CSIC). The members of the Group of Atmospheric Inorganic Geochemistry are renowned experts in air quality. Will collaborate in ANIMA by comparing their PM10 and PM2.5 data with deposition measurements and provide expertise on chemical analysis of atmospheric aerosols.
